I write you with bits of news:
-I submitted my fifth letter to a refugee child for Al Jazeera. This final letter in the short series will run on Thursday. For those of you who may have missed any of the letters, you can find them here: https://www.aljazeera.com/author/kao_kalia_yang_200504133603622
-The Song Poet, my second book, has been selected as a One Book/ One Minnesota selection. This means that the book is downloadable for free for a period of time and I’ll keynote a presentation come December around the work. In our current moment, the book club need not be limited to only Minnesotans. If you’ve not read the book, this is a great opportunity. You can access details here: https://sppl.org/onebook/
-Lerner has published an interview I gave about my newest book, From the Tops of the Trees. The book has been out in the world now for nearly a month. It’s traveling beautifully and already my inbox is filled with messages from readers young and old about their own experiences with fathers, places, and perspective. It just got its third starred review, this time from Publishers Weekly, so it is a 3/3 so far. You can read the interview here: https://lernerbooks.blog/2021/10/from-the-tops-of-the-trees-an-interview-with-author-kao-kalia-yang.html
